I Love Thursday #136 – Plentiful Blessings
This is the 136th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Love #1
Island Batik stash busters! I won these pretties from Denise at For the Love of Geese from Island Batik. They are called stash busters and I immediately had to open them up to enjoy their beauty. There are just a few duplicates and each strip is 5″ wide by width-of-fabric. So many options . . . good thing I allowed for an open project in this week’s to-do list, huh?!
Love #2
Big Carrots! My friends’ neighbor used to grow vegetables for a well-known company like Del Monte (or it might have been Green Giant). There are exact specifications for the vegetables and if they didn’t meet the specs they weren’t accepted. These friends received quite a few large carrots that weren’t quite up to snuff after harvesting, and they shared some of them with Sue and me. Although that was several years ago, recently big carrots showed up in the grocery stores. My friend bought me one just for old times sake . . . and I roasted it. YUM.
Love #3
Bird watcher! I’ve enjoyed watching for hummingbirds in the past so I made sure our feeder was out in early April. I wasn’t sure when the hummers return but I didn’t want to miss them. Now that I’m home and the feeder is within sight, I’ve seen a few other birds visit the feeder. Very excitedly, I called my sister to report on the yellow bird that wasn’t a finch. She had to look it up in her bird book for me – it’s a Yellow Warbler and we had a pair of them. Next, not one, not two, but three orioles visited the hummingbird feeder. One was a huge bully and kept the other two away from the sweet nectar. Who knew there were oriole bullies of the winged variety?!! I’m not talking baseball here.
Love #4
Little baby Coltie is growing in leaps and bounds as he zooms past two-months-old. He is already holding up his head and able to sit in his bouncy seat. Daddy is already teaching him to be a slugger for the Cubs while Dominic’s buddy Zeus keeps an eye on things. Colt wasn’t really into the baseball training yet . . . ♥ ♥
Love #5
Dominic and Addison got to spend some time with the GGs outside, and I’m not sure who liked the visit more. Dominic got to spend some time learning how to improve his golf stroke with GG, and then it was time to hop in the wagon for a ride. Momma got both littles so new rain boots, which they happily tried out at Gamma’s house. It turns out that little Miss pink boots enjoys the mud and water just as much as her brother. It wasn’t very nice when Dominic went to push Addison and missed . . . he ended up face first in the water and mud instead of her.
Addison has learned how to maneuver the cap off the water-solulible markers. How do we know, you ask?? She tried it out on her sweet face with a red and green mark! Addison received a baby named Janice Andrea (Cabbage Patch doll) which she promptly renamed Grover. ??!! She looked so sweet giving her baby a bottle. Dominic wanted to get in on the feeding but she hovered closeby. Finally, the two littles wish you a happy Thursday wearing pretty blue . . . and the water needs to warm up, Momma. Brrr. This water is cold!

It’s nice to catch up on the babies – though Dominic is hardly a baby any more! Your fabric win looks wonderful, and I know you’re finding something terrific for it. Spring! At last! Almost summer some days.
How fun to have some pretty new batik fabric to play with! And I love the pic of the Oriole. I’ve never seen one in person. Cut pics of the littles! Have a great day, Mary.
Oh Roseanne – those babies are growing so fast! That picture of happy Thursday is the best! And I can’t wait to see what you make with those gorgeous batiks! Have a wonderful weekend!
Love those batiks! And I love the 5″ width…very useful!
Sounds like you had a great week. Those stash buster fabrics are fun, Congratulations on the win.
LOL at Baby Grover and mishaps with markers!!! Dom might think twice about pushing his sister next time. Oh such fun times! Love your batiks, such pretty colors! Mr. Colt is getting sooooooo big! You have beautiful birds there! Have a great week!
What a blessing in those Island Batiks. Dominic better watch out- Addison can take care of herself. Lol. Those little rascal birds. How interesting they are. It’s pretty cool that you can observe them so close.
Life goes on in this time of Coronavirus…thanks for sharing your bountiful blessings with us, your followers.
Oh my! Addison’s face reminds me of a photo of my girls with marker all over them! LOL. Lots of things to love this week!
Congrats on the win! Those fabrics look terrific. That is a big carrot! I love the yellow warblers – they sound pretty, too.
Congrats on the win! Can’t wait to see what you do with it! Those sweet littles just make me smile 😁 Carol
Really love the fabric…beautiful inspiration there! As for the little ones, sigh, nothing compares…especially the pic in blues…my week is signed, sealed and delivered now! LOL
Gorgeous fabrics. Congratulation on the win. LOL big carrots. Every now and then you see “ugly” fruit at work it is $2-$3 cheaper for a bag of apples or oranges sometimes. Great pictures of the birds. How fun to see them. Yay for Colt, and playing ball. Great pics of Dominick and Addison. New boots and being able to puddle stomp makes for a good day. Awe Addison and her baby Grover.
Always a treat to see those kiddies, Rosemary. That is one huge carrot…I’m a big roasted veg fan and it seems to make carrots all the sweeter. Yea to your batik fabric win!
Island Batiks fabrics are the best! Such beautiful colors! Those carrots look huge! The kids are growing so quickly! Love the pictures of the birds! I used to have a bird feeder and loved seeing the birds. However, the squirrels were awful so I stopped it. Have a nice week!
Your LOVES warm my hear! And those Island Batik stash builders are pretty cool, aren’t they?
yummy bundles of fabric. Can’t wait to see what you do with them this week!!? We grew huge carrots one year (8″ diameter) I called them cow carrots. They were tough but we were also raising rabbits at the time so we put them in with the mama bunny and her littles. The babies started at the narrow end and ate the center all the way up to the top leaving about 1/2″ shell all around. They (the babies) came out with orange faces! How wonderful to see such beautiful birds at the feeder. All species tend to have bullies of one kind or another. Those littles are so precious. Thank you for sharing them every week!
Congratulations on your win, Roseanne! That will be fun to play with! I love roasted carrots, too – so yummy. You saw some pretty birds – but no hummingbirds? Hopefully, they’re coming! Love the pictures of the kiddos, especially GG and the golf lesson!
Lol the is so cute, the photo of him falling in the puddle and her jumping in it. So cute.
Lots of lovely littles! 🙂 live the birds too. We have a pair of sparrows nesting in the tree right by our deck. Loved watching them do the build. MacGyver roasted a carrot in with the sweet potatoes he did the other day, delicious!
Congrats on winning that wonderful fabric! It’ll be fun to see what you decide to make with it!
I love watching the birds, too! We had a very territorial yellow warbler one year. Early every morning, he would fly round and round the house tearing holes in the upstairs window screens and beating on the windows. I can only assume he was attacking his reflections? In spite of the damage, and sometimes waking me up, I miss the little guy.
I love those stash busters….think I will order some one day when I need a happy treat. They really do come in handy. The pics of the kids in blue and the face down Dominic….well something you can only laugh at (and be glad you didn’t have to clean up!!). Happy Tday!
IB fabric is pretty, no matter what form it comes in. Congrats on the win! Orioles can be very territorial at the feeder. I’m jealous – I haven’t seen any yet (John has, I keep missing them). Those littles grow leaps and bounds each week – love Addison’s little pony/pigtail(?)!
love the fabric – such a large carrot! and the little ones are so cute
