I Love Thursday #120 Many Blessings
This is the 120th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Recycling in a BIG way!! Our hometown is the world headquarters for S.C. Johnson. They employ many, many local Racine residents. Recently, SCJ and Milwaukee Brewers announced a partnership – a very exciting partnership at that. Scrubbing Bubbles bottles will be made from recycled cups collected after the Brewer games. One could/may argue that a better step would be to not use those plastic cups at all . . . and I would agree. However, what is the solution for the millions of Brewer fans that enjoy a cuppa their favorite beverage at a game? The person that can solve that dilemma in an environmentally-friendly way will be a gazillionaire. Stepping down off my soapbox now! I do wholeheartedly support this partnership as I always support the hometown teams – woot, woot!
Wanna know a little bit about how the term, “stepping down off my soapbox” came to be? My friend, Google, supplied, “A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech, often about a political subject. The term originates from the days when speakers would elevate themselves by standing on a wooden crate originally used for shipment of soap or other dry goods from a manufacturer to a retail store.”
Happy, funny signs! This sign just cracked me up . . . I guess I won’t be getting a call from anyone. Having a sense of humor along with being able to tease in a nice way is something I was raised with. It is definitely my norm!
Brrrr! This is a really pretty picture showing the Racine lighthouse and some of the storm clouds approaching. Oh yeah, there’s all this ice in the foreground. That’s the result of this weekend’s fine weather . . . but pretty nonetheless.
Chatty proof! I guess this proves that I write too much and my posts are too lengthy. That’s a whole lot of words to be checked in just nine months.
Our sweet boy, Dominic got his mitts on a handy dandy black marker (washable, I hope) and gave himself a few test facial marks. Not wanting to be exclusive, Dominic gave Addison a few freckles. Momma said, “Oh!” when she saw it. They play together so nicely in Dominic’s bedroom, and occasionally Addison gets a chance to color on the easel. ♥ ♥ ♥
While at our house last weekend we had a BIG Sam’s box that was big enough for both of them to sit in. Auntie Sue did the wiggle, wiggle, wiggle with the box and that caused a lot of giggles. Addison shows off how a big girl can climb in the box all by herself, except her legs aren’t quite long enough. Almost, baby girl. Finally, Addison was sleeping hard this morning but she wanted to wish you a Happy Thursday. ♥ ♥ ♥
