Halfway point – I Wish You A Merry QAL
We are participating in two quilt-alongs this year. This is the halfway point for the I Wish You A Merry QAL on Facebook. We just finished block #6 which is entitled Angel:
This block introduced blues into our quilt and they have not been present previously. We will try to add in some of these blues in the next few blocks so there is some continuity. The navy blue fabric with stars was just perfect – we couldn’t have an angel holding a star and not have it in a night starlit sky. We modified the hair to match Sue’s sister who we lost just two years ago. I also added her name – we love and miss you Jodi. ~smile~
Halfway Point – Six Blocks Complete
Here are all six block that have been completed so far. I am enjoying all of them especially now that they are behind us. I enjoy piecing blocks much more than appliqué I have found. But honestly, now that these blocks have required it I am not complaining about it. The angel block went together really quickly and the appliqué was done in no time.
I think the ornament block needs a little something something but don’t know what. The ornaments look fine when you see them up close but they don’t really have a voice from a distance. Maybe it’s the white areas that don’t stand out from the background. What do you think if I outlined them all in a buttonhole stitch using black thread? That might help . . .
Six more blocks – any guesses on what they’ll be? I think there HAS to be a stocking block, and maybe a wreath. I cannot come up with any other themes unless it was a sled/sleigh or perhaps presents. Hmm. I guess we will have to wait and see. ~smile~

Love your quilt! The ornament block may shine when it is all together.
Hi Pam,
That is so sweet of you to say! I really shouldn’t criticize the patterns – it is so nice they are offering them to us. It will be great to be finished. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your blocks are wonderful. I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful way to commemorate Jodi. Those are lovely shades of blues and stars in your angel block.

I am both looking forward to the next block and dreading it also. So hoping it will not be applique. 🙂
Hi Peggy! I am right there with you, hoping for no appliquéd blocks this week. xx fingers crossed. ~smile~ Roseanne
