Eagle Hoodie = Memory Pillow

A very dear friend of ours just lost her boyfriend/fiancé and companion of over 18 years.  He was a good guy with a goofy sense of humor.  A veteran that served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army as a Combat Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”, he was very proud of that.  We considered him a good friend, and we will all miss him very much.

Eagle Hoodie = Memory Pillow?

Eagle Hoodie

She asked me if I would make a pillow from this eagle hoodie.  She wanted the pouch pockets intact so that she could warm her hands while hugging the pillow. Hmm.  Yes, of course we could make it.  I hopped online to see what kind of pillow forms were available and promptly ordered a 14 x 28 one.  It came in the mail and this is the finished product:

It is slightly wider than it should be but it had to be to maintain the pouch pocket.  I put a small zipper in the side seam so that the hoodie can be taken off and washed.  The pillow form also has a light cotton covering that can be removed as well.  I don’t know if it is a fitting memory of Das, but he is not the kind of man that will ever leave our heart.  Rest in peace, my friend.  Salute.
