August OMG – We are finishing a UFO

This year has been designated the year to finish up 12 unfinished objects (UFO).  The number 12 was selected so that we could earn our PHD from fellow quilter, blogger, and friend, Gail at Quilting Gail.  We, meaning me, have been very remiss lately as most of the remaining finishes require just quilting.  They are already layered and are awaiting some inspiration from me to get ‘er done.  So come ‘h’ or high water, one is getting done.

UFO Inspiration from OMG

Sew, this decision is basically up to me.  I just need to pick one.  Just one and commit to a quilting design.  Okay.  I’m picking Garden Gate.  For our Elm Street Quilts August OMG, I will get Garden Gate quilted (somehow) and the binding on.

GardenGate1

Here is what Garden Gate looked like the last time I shared anything about it.  That was in October 2017.  Since then it has been layered and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.  It is much more patient than I am, but really what choice does it have.  At least I didn’t stuff it in a closet!

An UFO Decision

Sew, I made a decision!  Woot woot.  Now I just have to follow through and get it complete with 30 days to go.  That is very doable, don’t you think?!

Yes, you can do it in 30 days Roseanne. Looks like a perfect candidate for any all-over design.

This is such a lovely pattern, because it is simple and it really allows the fabrics to shine. It is looking at you and saying – come on, do you really want me languishing here on the design wall, when you could finish and snuggle with me? Do you Roseanne?

You can do it! Put the pedal to the metal and it will be done in a flash! 😉 Choose a relatively simple design that holds some interest. Good luck!

Hello Roseanne; This is such a pretty quilt! I look forward to seeing it quilted. Do you have problems picking out/choosing the design for quilting? I need to get busy and make a couple of baby quilts and this looks like it would be a fun quilt to create. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful creations! Have a magnificent day!

You’ve got this! If you had a longarm, I’d suggest flowers, but since you don’t, make some wavy lines and call it beautiful … ’cause it will be!

  11. Very doable, as you say, so go for it!

  12. Lisa J. says:

Well you better not make that poor quilt wait any longer as it may run out of patience! Good luck getting to it and I hope it’s fun.

Straight lines, wavy lines, loops…you’ve got a lot of easy ones you could pick. Or you could pick something more challenging!

  14. I made the Garden Gate quilt and gave it to my mother-in-law (she likes it). It’s a fun quilt to make; you should have it done in no time!
