Another Friday Mishmash – This, That and OMG

There are only four Fridays in November, and one is called Black Friday.  That means time is ticking away on my November One Monthly Goal, and I’d better get a wiggle on.  I have a few updates to share but they aren’t news worthy enough to be shared in their own post; thus the mishmash is revisited.

Shiplap Fabric

We found the fabric to use in Darlene’s pillow shams!  I want to thank all of you for the suggestions that were made.  One of them did lead us to the correct search term to find just the perfect choice.  We even gave Darlene two choices, which I think is amazing since I had NO IDEA where to look.

The winning search term turned out to be ‘weathered wood planks” and was found in the “architecture area” of fabrics.  Who even knew there was any of this available?!  My mind was blown . . . and once I recovered I quickly ordered two yards.  I haven’t done the MATH yet – oh no, more math – but we can always use some planks in our stash.  HAHA!

Postcard from Sweden Fabric Update

When I fell in love with Shannon’s quilt, Postcard from Sweden who would have ever thought that I would actually move forward with making it?!  Well, I rarely let any grass grow under my feet and Green Fairy Quilts was having a sale.  So I ordered a whole bunch – literally, two – of solid fabrics.

Sue and I spent an exciting evening matching up the 36 colors to incorporate some of the new 37 – 2017 Kona fabric colors.  You will be proud to know that we do not have to buy any additional fabrics – except for some borders that I’ll add.  My quilt is going to have a slightly more orange/red hue as I replaced a few of the pinks with orange.  I hope that works out, but truly no one else will know or care.

Regatta Quilt 2018 Sew Along

Lest you think that I have forgotten about the upcoming sew along that starts in January, 2018, I have not.  The New Year is upon us in just over six weeks!  Holy moly – how can that be?  We have decided on our color palate and have ordered fabric.  Hmm, there seems to be a common thread lately – new fabric.  If you would like more details about the quilt along, you are welcome to join in.  I’m not sharing a photo of the fabric yet but soon . . .

Christmas Stocking Needed STAT

Remember the wild idea I had to remake a stocking for Dominic?  My “friend” Peggy, suggested I take apart this stocking that I purchased for him in order to quilt it.  That is a fabulous idea, and now it is time to do so.  I wish that same “friend” was here to guide me as to exactly how to do that!  Yeah, she’s still my friend but what was I thinking?!  Now it has a cute cross stitch design on it thanks to Sue, and it is back on my plate.  Oh yeah, they want pictures of him IN his new stocking soon so could I get it finished?  (Those are my sentiments, not mom and dad’s).  Sooooooo, I need to get that wrapped up ASAP.

Another Commission Quilt?

We may have another commissioned quilt to start working on soon.  It is not a rush job but I still would like to get it completed soon if we can work out the details.  That also means ordering more fabrics!  I’ll share more about this when I’m able to.  Thank you Lauren for sharing our information with your friend.  We love you, honey!  If you made it this far in reading along, you deserve a gold star.    Or a diamond because I couldn’t find a star.

  1. What an awesome find for the nautical fabric. I think it’s a wonderful specimen. I can’t wait to see your progress on the pillows. Way to go for finding fabric for the Postcard from Sweden quilt. You are going to have a wonderful time figuring out how to mix and match the colors. Congratulations on the possible quilt commission! 🙂

Thanks again, Cindy! That Postcard quilt is going to push me . . . hopefully not to the very edge. HAHA ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Susan says:

I am not going to be tempted to buy fabric for this! No, no, go away with that temptation! LOL Great post!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Susan!
No, I do not want to be a temptation for anyone – and I never even thought of that until Rose mentioned it. Stay strong and ignore me! I hope you can use up some stash for the Regatta sew-along quilt if you would like to participate. I’m sure you have something perfect already. ~smile~ Roseanne

For some reason after reading your fun post today, all I want to do is buy fabric. You’re not helping me with my challenge of limiting my fabric purchases. I can’t wait for the QAL to start.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Rose,
HAHAHAHA! What ever do you mean? Hmm, could it be that all I did was show new bunches of tempting nuggets. I am sorry – stay strong Rose. I am looking forward to the QAL too. Very much! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. I love your wood fabric. It will be perfect for your project. Looking forward to seeing all your project as they progress. You will have no problem quilting the stockings. I think I would hand quilt them since it is a small area and less chance of them becoming distorted. If I remember that is what I did with the ones I deconstructed. Your blog is a wealth of inspiration to me. Happy Friday my friend. Mowing the yard is my only project for today.

    • Roseanne says:

Hi Peggy! Mowing the lawn – if only. Ours has already had snow on it. Boo! Hand quilting?!! What?!! I never thought of that. I’m glad I mentioned it again – I knew you would chime in with a helpful suggestion. And that wood paneling – who would have ever?! ~smile~ Roseanne

      • You know I always have to put in my two cents worth and it doesn’t bother me at all if you don’t take my suggestions. 🙂 Where did you find the wood paneling fabric? That would look great in a quilt with barns and/or houses.

      • Roseanne says:

        Peggy,
I was asking for your two cents in a round about sort of way! I found it at eQuilters.com out of Colorado. It sure would look great with barns. Someone was just quilting a barn quilt this week for a friend or customer and it was from a panel. I thought to myself, hmm. NO! I cannot start another thing right now. I’m saving myself for the New Year and Regatta, once I get all these other new things out of the way. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

      • I hate to say this, but I have those barn panels (2 different ones) that are in my round-to-it pile. If it isn’t a secret, what fabric did you choose for the Regatta? I have 2 different choices and cannot decide between the two.

      • Roseanne says:

Peggy – I am doing blues and green-ish similar to the original. I don’t think it’s a secret! It is?! You and I are in charge . . . if we say it’s not a secret, then it’s not. HAHA! What are your choices? ~smile~ Roseanne

      • I got a blues jelly roll on MSQC daily deal and I have a Kona jelly roll in the Dusty Palette BUT it is 1.5″. I cannot decide so will probably make both….this is the way I solve problems and why I never get anything else done. 🙂

      • Roseanne says:

Oh, I saw that blue jelly roll on MSQC just recently! I think that would be beautiful – I was tempted to get it myself. Hmm, 1.5″ sounds wonderful as well – just a bit shorter. You might want to adjust the width then too? 74 strips at 1″ more narrow, assuming you are doing the white at 1.5″ as well? ~smile~ Roseanne

      • Wellllll, I MAY just have two of those jelly rolls so I can stretch it out if I need to or maybe make a baby quilt. 🙂

      • Roseanne says:

HAHAHAHAHA – you MAY huh?!! OMG – some of them MAY belong to Sami though. She made you buy the extra ones, right?!

      • They will belong to her if she finds them. As you probably know this is Sami’s house but she lets me stay in it.

      • Roseanne says:

Shoot Peggy – make those barns! They are so cool looking!! R

      • Maybe after the holidays…..I think I say that a lot. 🙂

  5. Shannon Fleming says:

Glad to see you are progressing on the postcard quilt!

    • Roseanne says:

All because of you and your fabulous quilt and post. Oh my – I still can picture that perfection in my mind. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Those are all so great – but your postcards from sweden is outstanding! love those colors~!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Alycia,
Shannon’s finished piece just totally slapped me with its beauty. I just HAVE to make it. Oh, it will look so fabulous if mine can look half as good as her’s. I really can’t wait to get started on it. ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. Vicki in MN says:

For sure there will be no grass growing under your feet, nor snow either as you’ll be running around so fast it would melt, LOL Looking forward to seeing the progress on your projects. Never would have thought there was shiplap fabric-but why not!!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Vicki,
I know, right?! Wood paneling fabric – who would think there would be a big call for it. I actually did find a few different choices, amazingly enough. The key is the right search words! ~smile~ Roseanne
