Almost Last Call – Sew Along – Regatta Quilt
I shared the Regatta Quilt as a tutorial on Halloween day. A week or so after that I introduced the idea of a sew along. The premise is just for the fun of it. No pressure, no real deadline, no prize for being the first one finished or the most liked, no sponsors, nada. Just a plain ole fun sew along. ~smile~ The sew along starts on January 1st, so only three weeks to go.
Daniela O’Connell from Block M Quilts shared the tutorial in shades of blue. Since the sharing of her beautiful quilt, she has reached out to say she is happy that a sew along is planned! She also let me know that she made a more recent version of this quilt in Autumn colors. I knew this would turn out well in another color palate and here is the proof in the pudding:
My friend, Peggy Cooper has raised her hand right from the get-go to join in the sew along. Since it is so informal it isn’t too hard to plan for it. Even I can handle it! So I thought it would be fun to share who is participating along with their website/blog if they have one. I am dying to know the fabrics being planned for this quilt?! I will be sharing our fabrics just before the new year.

If I have missed you, I beg your forgiveness! Please leave me a comment and I will correct it right away. Check your link to make sure it works – I plan on sharing this list again at the launch. Do you want to share photos on Instagram (#regattaquilt to link up with the Block M original)? Facebook? Unfortunately, photos cannot be shared in comments on WordPress or our blog. Darn it. I will probably use Facebook and/or Instagram since I already post on both. And in blog updates of course! I welcome any suggestions you have – it’s not like I’ve planned a sew along before. ~smile~
Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
Can I still sneak in? Late, late, late!
Hi Wendy!
It’s not too late! Get your jelly rolls or fabric picked out! January 1st is just a week away. I’m glad you’re joining us! ~smile~ Roseanne
That sounds great! I really like the quilt but I just gotta get these 4 projects done first (well 5 since I just remembered another one that needs to be finished up….lol)
Hi Moira,
LOL – good luck with those FIVE projects!! ~smile~ Roseanne
I will probably do this at some point in the year because I really do like the quilt. However I have 4 major projects with hard deadlines the first 3 months of the year, so it won’t be till after March. I’ve got the fabric already for it so this will be great. thanks for posting it.
Good Morning,
Since there is no real deadline you can join in any time! No stress about it though – you already have enough with four projects that you have to complete. I’ll add your name to the potential list, if that’s okay? Thanks so much for visiting and commenting – I appreciate it very much. ~smile~ Roseanne
Very pretty quilt – Since there is no deadline I will sign on to do this! Will be fun to gather my fabrics and get ready to make my version! Thanks!
Hi June,
How wonderful that you will be joining us! I will add you name and website to the list of participants. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do! ~smile~ Roseanne
Count me in! Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Myra,
I’ve added you to the list that goes live on the 1st! I’m glad you’re joining us. ~smile~ Roseanne
You could just have everyone post whatever progress they have made on certain dates. Some would be farther along than others, but so what, there’s no deadline, right? LOL Then a list like you posted here and we run through everyone and see how it’s going. Just a thought. I don’t do FB, but I do IG.
Hi Susan,
That’s a great idea! That way we can keep up with each other and have a good ‘ole check in. We can comment on each other’s progress or give encouragement for lack thereof. ~smile~ Roseanne
Link works perfectly, but there’s only one S and no space DesertSky Quilting. It isn’t a big deal, though. =) I double checked to be sure I knew where my jelly rolls were that I want to use for this!
Hi Susan,
Thanks for letting me know! That is definitely a typo on my end . . . I’ll fix it in this post and then it will be correct in the next. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks! I’m so excited for this to begin. I even double checked to be sure the jelly rolls didn’t roll away! =)
Looks like the link to my blog works smashingly well! My quilt will be a scrappy and smaller in size than the pattern. I’m looking forward to getting started! 🙂 Since I don’t follow you on Facebook I will either share updates on my blog or on Instagram. 🙂
Perfecto! ~smile~ Roseanne
I will probably share my updates on your FB page (if that is OK with you) and on the blog. I am still deciding between the narrow jelly roll with muted colors or the regular jelly roll in blues. As usual, cannot make up my mind.
That is great, Peggy! My palette is definitely blues . . . 2.5″ strips that we’ll cut. Later. Around January 1st! ~smile~ Roseanne
This looks like fun! I love the low-key, community for community’s sake aspect of your QAL. I have a jelly roll that is begging to be used, and this pattern would be great for my pre-teen daughter. Count me in…… even if I likely run behind. 🙂
Hi Dione,
Well that is just great! I am thrilled you will be joining us. And, you can’t run behind if there is no deadline . . . right?!! I’ll add you to the list of participants. ~smile~ Roseanne
I’ve pulled a jelly roll and I’m strongly considering joining in on Jan 1st if I can get a different project completed first.
Hi Gretchen,
Ooh, I hope you get it finished. Of course, there is no reason you can’t join us a bit late since there is no deadline anyway. No pressure either way! ~smile~ Roseanne
Count me in! I got the binding sewn on that quilt and I cut the white strips this afternoon. Everything is on a tray ready to sew, in fact, some sewing may happen tomorrow!
Okay! I’ll move you up to participating instead of possible . . . ~smile~ Roseanne
Excited to start on this one!
Hi Shannon! Me, too. And excited to see what everyone else has chosen for their colorway. ~smile~ Roseanne
What a fun low pressure QAL! I think I’ll put it on my list to do, by January I’m sure we will all want a fun quilt to make just to get back to ‘normal’!! The quilt is a beauty. And I think I have some random solid strips collecting dust that need to be used!
Hi Jayne,
That is great! Not only is there a whole range of color choices but also just think of all the different ways it could be quilted too! I’m so glad you’re going to join us! ~smile~ Roseanne
Can’t wait to start! Thanks Roseanne!
Hi Jan,
Me too! It will be fun seeing what everyone comes up with. ~smile~ Roseanne
I don’t do instagram, but FB would work for me. I still need to do a post for it this week.
Hi Vicki,
There’s no rush on your post – no need to feel any stress! We’ve got three weeks . . . plenty of time to narrow down your fabric choices and even change your mind a few times. ~smile~ Roseanne
It sounds like a fun time, and the possibilities for color combinations are endless. I might be able to fit this in my schedule – I love the quilt!
Hi Beth,
Oh, that would be great and as you said the color combinations are indeed endless. I hope you can join us – after all, there is no real deadline. ~smile~ Roseanne
